South Interior Karnataka:

Today (July 3rd): Heavy to very heavy rain with sustained winds (40-50 kmph) is likely in Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, and Shivamogga districts. An Orange Alert has been issued for these districts.

July 4th – July 5th: Yellow Alert for these interior districts.

Light to moderate rain with sustained winds (40-50 kmph) is likely at most places over Ballari, Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Davangere, Mandya, Mysuru, Kolar, Ramanagara, Tumakuru and Vijayanagar districts.

Current City-Specific Conditions (as of current time):

Bengaluru: Cloudy with a high of around 27°C and a low of 21°C. There’s a moderate chance of rain from about 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Winds will be blowing from the west at approximately 26 km/h.

Other major cities like Mangaluru, Chitradurga, Gadag, Honnavar, Kalaburgi, Belagavi, Karwar, etc., are also experiencing varied weather conditions, generally cloudy with light to moderate rainfall in some areas.

Impact and Outlook:

The intense rainfall is contributing to increased inflows into reservoirs like Almatti and Tungabhadra, leading to water releases. Some low-lying bridges in areas like Chikkodi division (Belagavi district) have submerged due to swollen rivers.

Farmers in Konkan, Goa, and the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra (adjoining Karnataka) have been advised to make arrangements for draining excess water from fields to prevent waterlogging. The overall forecast suggests a continued active monsoon spell for the coming days, with potential for localized flooding in vulnerable areas.

Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts from the IMD and local authorities, and take necessary precautions, especially those in flood-prone regions.
