World War 3rd begins: United States attacked Iranian nuclear sites

World War 3rd begins: President Donald Trump said Saturday that the United States had attacked Iranian nuclear sites, potentially pushing the United States into war with its longtime rival and regional power, Israel. War War 3rd begins: United States attacked Iranian nuclear sites.

“Just a short time ago, the United States military carried out massive precision strikes on three major nuclear facilities controlled by Iran: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan,” Trump said in a speech from the White House.

Trump said the US and Israel “have worked as a team, perhaps as no team has ever worked before. We have come a long way in eradicating this terrible threat to an American ally.” The president praised the US military for “an operation the likes of which the world has not seen in decades.”

Let’s hope we no longer need his services in this position.” “There will be more peace in Iran than we have seen in the last eight days, or disaster will occur. Remember, there are still many targets left,” Trump said.

“Tonight was the most difficult and probably the most deadly. But if peace does not come soon, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed and skill, most of which can be eliminated in a matter of minutes,” he said.

Trump watched the attacks from the White House Situation Room on Saturday, where he was joined by his national security team and close aides. The president initially announced the attacks on social media on Saturday, where he wrote that “the entire payload of bombs was dropped on Fordow, the primary target.”

It is unclear how much damage the US strikes late Saturday night caused to Iranian nuclear sites or whether any US military assets are still active in the country. The previous day, several US Air Force B-2 stealth bombers were reported to have taken off from Missouri and were heading west over the Pacific Ocean.

These massive planes are the only US aircraft capable of carrying the 30,000-pound bomb, the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), known as the “bunker buster.” Bunker Buster bombs are widely seen as the only conventional, non-nuclear weapons capable of inflicting serious damage on the Fordow nuclear facility, built into the side of a mountain.

Saturday’s move would put the United States in direct armed conflict with Iran, a huge escalation in its involvement in Israel’s efforts to undermine Tehran’s nuclear program and overthrow its regime. Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the U.S. strikes, a White House official told media.

The decision to attack Iran would once again involve the American military in active warfare in the Middle East – something Trump had vowed to avoid during his second term. This marks a major shift from Trump’s statement just 48 hours earlier that the US would take “two weeks” to see if the conflict between Israel and Iran could be resolved diplomatically.

“Based on the fact that there is a significant possibility that negotiations with Iran may or may not take place in the near future,”I will make a decision in the next two weeks whether to go or not,” Trump said in a statement released by the White House on Thursday.
