Ujjwala Yojana: Good news for beneficiaries get LPG Cylinder at Just Rs 300
Ujjwala Yojana: After a long wait, in April, the government increased the price of LPG cylinders by Rs 50. After this increase, the kitchen budget of the common man was slightly damaged. Good news beneficiaries get LPG Cylinder at Just Rs 300.
But, did you know that despite this price hike, some exclusive customers are still getting gas cylinders for just Rs 300? Yes, it’s true. So, if you want to know how this is possible and whether you can benefit from this scheme, read this news carefully.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries will get a full Rs 300 subsidy on LPG cylinders. Due to this subsidy, Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries will get a direct benefit of Rs 300 compared to general consumers.
Currently, the price of a cylinder under the Ujjwala scheme is around Rs 550, while for general consumers it is Rs 853. So, this difference clearly shows how beneficial the Ujjwala Yojana is for poor families.
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1 May 2016. The main objective of this scheme was to provide clean fuel, i.e. LPG connections, to poor families. Under this scheme, the government had a target of providing 5 crore LPG connections.
Later, this target was increased to 8 crore, which was achieved on September 7, 2019, seven months ahead of the target. PMUY Phase-2 (Ujjwala 2.0) was launched in August 2021 and 1.60 crore Ujjwala 2.0 connections have been provided by January 2023.
In addition, in September 2023, the government approved the release of an additional 75 lakh PMUY connections. The rollout of these 75 lakh PMUY connections was completed in July 2024. There are now more than 10 crore beneficiaries across the country.
Let us tell you that you can apply online for PMUY connection at www.pmuy.gov.in with the required documents. Certain conditions have been set to avail the benefits of this scheme. The applicant must be a citizen of India! Furthermore, the applicant must be a member of a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family.
Also, the applicant should not already have any LPG connection. If you fulfill these conditions, you can also get an LPG cylinder for Rs 300 under this scheme.
