ED Reveals PWD Irregularity Documents in Satish Jarkiholi Searches

The Enforcement Directorate has disclosed details from its recent searches at locations linked to Karnataka Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi and people associated with him. According to the agency, documents and digital devices connected to alleged irregularities in the Public Works Department and suspected collection of bribes from contractors were found during the operation.

The searches have added a new dimension to the political controversy surrounding the case. The ED conducted searches at 21 locations connected to Satish Jarkiholi, his family members and associates. The operation covered places in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Gokak and Kolkata, with officials also examining information related to foreign investments and cross border transactions.

The agency said its investigation is looking into allegations surrounding the awarding of contracts in the PWD. Documents reportedly recovered during the searches are being examined to determine whether money was allegedly collected from contractors in connection with tenders.

The ED has also mentioned a private company identified in the investigation as Indian Commerce Eastern Private Limited. According to the agency, there are allegations that the company received money connected with PWD contracts and that some of the funds were subsequently used for acquiring assets abroad. The agency conducted searches at premises associated with the companys officials and owners as part of the investigation.

Foreign business interests have also come under the EDs scrutiny. The agency said searches uncovered records relating to overseas companies and investments associated with members of the Jarkiholi family. These records are being examined as investigators trace the flow of funds and the nature of the reported foreign transactions.

The searches reportedly resulted in the seizure of unaccounted cash worth around Rs 3.3 crore. Foreign currency, including dollars and euros valued at around Rs 15 lakh, was also reportedly found and seized by the agency. The ED is expected to examine the source of these funds as part of its wider investigation.

Another area being examined is the alleged involvement of the family in overseas mining businesses. The ED said records indicated interests in foreign entities, including Eldorado Mining Resources and Nav Aurum Mining Limited in Zambia.

The agency has also highlighted an alleged 40 percent stake held by Satish Jarkiholi in a company involved in gold mining. Details of the ownership and transactions involving the overseas businesses are now part of the investigation.

The recent searches were not limited to the residence of the minister. Premises associated with his daughter Priyanka, son Rahul and son in law YD Manjunath, along with locations linked to other associates, were also covered. Officials collected documents and electronic material from several of these locations.

The PWD allegations are likely to attract considerable attention because the department handles large infrastructure and construction contracts across Karnataka. The ED is now examining whether the documents and digital evidence recovered during the searches provide information about the alleged flow of money connected with government tenders.
