iQOO 16 May Bring Samsung Display Technology Seen In Foldable iPhone

The iQOO 16 is shaping up to be one of the more interesting Android flagship phones expected this year, with new leaks pointing to an unusual display technology. The smartphone has not yet been officially announced, but reports suggest iQOO could be preparing several major hardware upgrades for its next flagship.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, iQOO is reportedly working with Samsung on display technology that could also be used in Apple’s upcoming book style foldable iPhone. The leaked information points to Samsung’s next generation M16 luminous material and LEAD display technology being considered for the iQOO 16.

If the information turns out to be accurate, the iQOO 16 could become the first Android smartphone to use Samsung’s LEAD display technology. That would give the upcoming device an interesting advantage in the premium smartphone market, particularly for buyers who pay close attention to screen quality.

The display is expected to be one of the phone’s biggest highlights. Earlier reports have suggested a 6.85 inch Samsung made flat OLED panel with 2K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. Such a high refresh rate would be particularly useful for gaming and other content where smooth movement matters.

The display upgrade comes alongside a reported increase in processing power. The iQOO 16 has previously appeared in the Geekbench database under model number V2606A. The listing reportedly showed a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, 16GB of RAM and Android 17 software.

The same model number was also spotted in China’s 3C certification database. The listing reportedly indicated support for 100W wired fast charging, suggesting that charging speed will remain another major feature of the upcoming flagship.

Battery capacity could be equally impressive. Previous leaks have claimed that the iQOO 16 may carry an 8500mAh battery while supporting 100W wired charging. Wireless charging could also be included, although that detail has not been confirmed officially.

The combination of a large battery and fast charging could make the phone particularly appealing to users who spend long hours gaming, watching videos or using demanding applications. iQOO has traditionally maintained a strong focus on performance, and the leaked specifications suggest that strategy could continue with the new model.

The rear design of the smartphone has also reportedly appeared in images shared by Weibo tipsters. The alleged renders show the phone in black and white finishes with a redesigned camera section.

Unlike the previous design, the new phone is said to have a large square camera island with rounded corners. Three camera sensors are reportedly arranged together inside the module, giving the rear panel a noticeably different appearance.

The alleged black version appears to have blue lighting accents around the camera section and the lower portion of the rear panel. These elements give the phone a gaming focused appearance. The back panel is also shown with a combination of smooth and textured sections along with visible lines across the surface.

The white version reportedly uses a more subdued matte finish. iQOO branding appears towards the lower part of the rear panel, while the sides of the phone seem to have rounded edges.

Camera specifications could receive an upgrade as well. Earlier reports have suggested that the iQOO 16 may use three 50 megapixel sensors for its rear camera system. The exact roles of the three sensors have not been confirmed, so the final camera arrangement could still change before launch.

Durability is another area where the upcoming flagship may receive attention. The phone is expected to have IP68 and IP69 protection against water and dust, although these details remain part of the current leak cycle.

There have also been reports that iQOO could introduce the iQOO 16 alongside a new tablet. The company has not officially confirmed the launch event or provided a final schedule yet. Earlier reports had pointed towards a September launch, but buyers will need to wait for an official announcement.

With the reported M16 display material, LEAD technology, Snapdragon processor, 165Hz screen, 8500mAh battery and 100W charging, the iQOO 16 could arrive with a strong specification sheet.
