Bengaluru Street Vendor Ningamma Praised By PM Modi In Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the story of Bengaluru street vendor Ningamma during the 137th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat on August 30. Her journey was presented as an example of how financial support can help street vendors build more stable livelihoods.

Ningamma, who originally comes from Hassan, runs a small street food business near Hosahalli Metro Station on Magadi Road in Bengaluru. She reportedly used financial assistance available through the PM SVANidhi scheme to establish and expand her business.

Her story stood out because the income from the small food outlet is not only helping her manage her household expenses but is also supporting the education of her children. Her experience was highlighted during a programme that discussed several examples of entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment and grassroots development across India.

According to the information shared about her journey, Ningamma obtained a loan of Rs 50,000 through the PM SVANidhi scheme. The financial assistance helped her operate her roadside food business and work toward greater financial independence.
