Vivo Phones May Soon Get Google Scam Detection Feature
Google Scam Detection could soon reach Vivo smartphones, giving users an AI based warning during suspicious calls and adding another layer of protection against phone scams.

Vivo users may soon have another tool to identify suspicious phone calls. Google appears to be preparing to expand its Scam Detection feature to Vivo smartphones, according to clues found in a recent teardown of the Phone by Google app.
The feature has so far been associated mainly with Google Pixel devices and was also expanded to Samsung Galaxy S26 series phones. The latest discovery suggests Vivo could become one of the next Android brands to support the technology.
Vivo Name Appears in Google Phone App Code
According to a report by Android Authority, the Vivo brand was spotted in code linked to Scam Detection in version 234.0.9 of the Phone by Google app. The teardown also reportedly revealed the internal codename Sharpie, which has been connected with Google’s Scam Detection technology.
This does not confirm that the feature is ready for a particular Vivo smartphone. However, the discovery suggests that Google and Vivo could be working toward bringing the technology to the company’s devices.
How Google Scam Detection Works
Google’s Scam Detection uses on device artificial intelligence to look for warning signs during a phone conversation. If the system notices patterns commonly associated with fraudulent calls, it can alert the person on the other end.
On Pixel 9 and newer devices, Google uses Gemini Nano for on device processing, while some older Pixel models rely on machine learning models running locally on the phone.
Privacy is also a key part of the feature. Scam Detection is turned off by default and requires user permission before it can be used. Google says the processing happens on the device, with call audio and transcripts not being sent to or stored on its servers for this feature.
Why This Could Matter for Vivo Users
Phone based scams have become increasingly convincing, with fraudsters often pretending to be bank employees, police officers, customer support representatives or even people known to the victim. A warning during a suspicious conversation could give users a useful moment to stop and reconsider what the caller is asking for.
Google is also expanding its AI based security tools on Android. In June 2026, the company announced Fake Call Detection, designed to help identify suspicious calls that may imitate a contact’s number. The feature is aimed at threats involving techniques such as caller ID spoofing and AI generated voices.
Which Vivo Phone Could Get It First
There is currently no official confirmation about the first Vivo smartphone that will receive Scam Detection. The feature could potentially appear on a future flagship, with speculation pointing toward upcoming X series models.
The Vivo X300 series and future X500 series have been mentioned in connection with these expectations, but Google and Vivo have not confirmed support for any specific device yet.
For now, the discovery should be treated as an early indication rather than a confirmed launch announcement. More details are likely to emerge once Google or Vivo officially reveals their plans.
