Bengaluru Gelatin Seizure Case Raises Questions Over Illegal Blasting

Police have seized more than 800 kilograms of gelatin from a construction site in Bhoganahalli after residents raised concerns about alleged blasting near homes and a school.

More than 800 kilograms of gelatin has been seized by Bengaluru police from a construction site in Bhoganahalli, near Bellandur, following complaints about alleged illegal blasting to remove large rocks.

The case came to light after residents reportedly raised concerns about blasting activity at the construction site. They alleged that explosives were being used to break large rock formations without adequate safety measures.

The presence of a school close to the construction area has added to local concerns. Residents have alleged that blasting was being carried out late at night, including after midnight, creating fear among people living nearby.

Following the complaint, Bellandur police registered a case and began examining the allegations. The seized gelatin is now part of the investigation as officers look into where it came from, how it was stored and whether the necessary permissions were in place.

According to the complaint, earthwork contractor Satish Nayak was approached for work at different survey numbers in Bhoganahalli in December 2025. The complaint alleges that large rocks were found during the work and that there was pressure to use explosives to clear them.

The complainant has further alleged that he objected to using explosives illegally and was subsequently removed from the work. He has also made allegations involving payment and threats.

Several people connected with the construction work have been named in the complaint, including the owner of Srinivasa Earth Movers, site personnel, engineers, contractors and individuals associated with Adarsh Developers. The allegations against them have not yet been established.

The police seizure of more than 800 kilograms of gelatin has now become a key part of the investigation. Officers are expected to verify whether the explosives were legally procured and stored and whether any blasting was actually carried out at the site.

The allegations have also put the spotlight on safety arrangements at construction sites where rock removal is required. Any use of explosives in such locations requires strict compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, particularly when residential areas and schools are nearby.

For now, the claims made by residents and the complainant remain allegations. The exact circumstances surrounding the gelatin storage and the reported blasting will become clear as the police investigation progresses.
