Wife Found Dead in Bathtub, Husband’s Accident Story Raises Suspicion

A woman was found dead at her home in Fatehpur after her husband allegedly staged the incident as an accident, but forensic evidence reportedly exposed the murder plot.

A shocking murder case has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, where a schoolteacher is accused of killing his wife and then attempting to make the death appear accidental. Police investigation reportedly uncovered evidence that contradicted the husband’s initial version of events.

The incident took place in Nasirpur Mohalla, where the couple was living in a rented house. The accused, identified as Dilip Yadav, works as an assistant teacher at a government school in Allipur. His wife, Shalini, was also working as a teacher at a private school.

According to the case details, the couple had married on December 3, 2017, after a relationship that eventually led to both families agreeing to the marriage. Their relationship was reportedly peaceful in the beginning, but differences later developed between them.

Police say suspicion became a major source of conflict in the marriage. Dilip allegedly suspected that his wife was involved with another man and frequently argued with her over the issue.

Alleged attack inside the house

Investigators allege that an argument between the couple turned violent on August 8. During the confrontation, Dilip allegedly struck Shalini on the head with a pressure cooker lid, causing serious injuries.

Police further allege that he then placed her in a bathtub filled with water, where she was allegedly drowned. After the incident, he is said to have left the area for some time before returning and presenting a different version of what had happened.

The accused reportedly contacted his brothers and claimed that Shalini had suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness. She was then taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Doctors raised suspicion

The injuries found on Shalini’s body and the circumstances surrounding her death reportedly raised questions at the hospital. Doctors informed the police after noticing that the case did not appear to be a straightforward medical emergency.

Shalini’s family members subsequently approached the police on August 9 and filed a complaint. Investigators and forensic officials examined the house and collected evidence from the scene.

The forensic findings reportedly helped investigators challenge the accident theory and focus on the possibility of a planned killing.

Police arrest accused husband

During questioning, police allege that Dilip admitted to killing his wife because of his suspicion about her relationship with another person. Investigators also questioned the alleged involvement of his brothers in the incident.

Dilip Yadav was arrested on August 12 and produced before a court. The court subsequently sent him to judicial custody.

The case has shocked residents in the area, particularly because the couple had been married for several years and both were working in the education sector. Police are continuing their investigation and examining the evidence collected from the house and other circumstances surrounding Shalini’s death.
