The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is expected to announce around 30,000 Group D (Level 1) vacancies, offering a golden opportunity for candidates who have passed Class 10 or possess an ITI certificate or diploma.

The Indian Railways is gearing up for another large-scale recruitment drive. This time, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is expected to announce around 30,000 Group D (Level 1) vacancies, offering a golden opportunity for candidates who have passed Class 10 or possess an ITI certificate or diploma.
The Railways aims to complete the recruitment process at the earliest. Vacancy details are currently being collected from railway zones across the country. The official notification is expected to be released in September or October 2026, while the online application process is likely to begin before December 2026. Interested candidates are advised to start their preparation well in advance.
The Railway Recruitment Board has sought detailed vacancy reports from all zonal railways and production units. Officials have been instructed to prepare data on anticipated vacancies up to December 31, 2027 using the Human Resource Management System (HRMS).
Divisional offices have been asked to submit vacancy details by August 14, after which zonal headquarters will verify and approve the data between August 10 and August 20. Once the vacancy data is finalised, the recruitment notification will be issued, ensuring a faster recruitment process.

The exact number of vacancies for each post will be announced in the official notification. However, with nearly 30,000 vacancies, thousands of candidates are expected to benefit from this recruitment drive.
RRB Recruitment 2026 Selection Process:
The RRB recruitment process is transparent and consists of multiple stages.
Computer-Based Test (CBT)
The first stage is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) comprising 100 objective-type questions. Candidates should note that one-third of the marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer, making accuracy extremely important.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates who qualify in the CBT will have to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which includes activities such as running and lifting weights. Maintaining good physical fitness is essential to clear this stage.
Document Verification and Medical Examination
The final stages include document verification and a medical fitness test. Only candidates who successfully clear all stages will be considered for appointment.
Beware of Recruitment Frauds:
To protect job seekers from fraudulent agents and fake recruitment scams, the Railways has integrated all regional RRB websites into a single centralised portal. Candidates are advised to rely only on official notifications and avoid individuals or agencies promising railway jobs in exchange for money.
