WhatsApp Brings Standalone iPad Support and New Features for Users
WhatsApp introduces direct iPad sign up, in app PDF editing on web, and improved vehicle support, making messaging easier across different devices.
WhatsApp has introduced a major update for iPad users, removing one of the biggest limitations of using the messaging platform on Apple tablets. With the latest rollout, iPad users can now register and use WhatsApp directly without depending on a smartphone.
Earlier, WhatsApp on iPad worked only as a linked secondary device. Users had to connect their iPad with a primary WhatsApp account on a smartphone before accessing chats and other features. The new update changes this experience by allowing the iPad to work as a primary device.
The new sign up option makes the setup process simpler for iPad users. They can now create or access their WhatsApp account directly from the tablet without keeping a phone connected. This move is expected to improve the overall experience for users who prefer using tablets as their main communication devices.
Along with standalone iPad support, WhatsApp has also added the ability to share music on Status updates. Users can now make their Status posts more engaging by adding music while sharing updates with contacts.
WhatsApp has also introduced improvements for handling PDF files on its web and desktop platforms. Users can now access and make minor edits to PDF documents directly within the app without downloading them first.
Previously, WhatsApp users needed to download a received PDF file before viewing or making any changes. The new feature removes this extra step and makes document handling more convenient for users who regularly exchange files through WhatsApp.
However, the PDF editing feature is currently limited to WhatsApp Web and desktop versions. It is not available for mobile apps at this time.
In addition to these updates, WhatsApp has expanded its features for vehicle users. The platform now allows users to access messages, reply to chats, and interact with contacts through supported car touchscreen systems.
