Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda Family Prays as Chennamma Remains in Critical Condition
Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy expressed deep concern as Chennamma continues receiving intensive treatment with family members hoping for her recovery through medical care and prayers.

Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s wife Chennamma is undergoing intensive medical treatment after her health condition turned critical. She is currently admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru, where a team of specialist doctors is closely monitoring her condition and providing advanced care.
Emotional scenes unfolded outside the hospital as family members gathered while waiting for updates from doctors. Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy were visibly moved while speaking to the media, reflecting the family’s deep concern over Chennamma’s health.
Addressing reporters after visiting his mother, HD Kumaraswamy said she had been admitted to the hospital after developing health complications a few days earlier. He expressed gratitude to the medical team for their dedicated efforts but admitted that the family was now placing its hopes on divine blessings alongside medical treatment.
Kumaraswamy recalled a life threatening incident that occurred nearly twenty five years ago when Chennamma survived an acid attack despite grim predictions about her condition. He said her strong faith and prayers had helped her overcome that difficult period and expressed hope that she would once again recover from the present health challenge.
According to the family, Chennamma has always maintained deep spiritual faith, and they believe those prayers continue to give them strength during this difficult time. Kumaraswamy said the family remained hopeful that she would respond positively to treatment and return home after recovering.
Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda also shared an update on her condition after meeting doctors. He said Chennamma had experienced breathing difficulties beginning on Wednesday, following which she was immediately admitted for specialised treatment. He added that doctors had informed the family that, apart from the respiratory issue, no other major medical complications had been identified at present.
Deve Gowda also mentioned that he had undergone his scheduled dialysis treatment before visiting the hospital. Despite his own health concerns, he remained by his wife’s side and expressed hope that her condition would improve with continued medical care.
Members of the extended family have remained at the hospital throughout the treatment period, awaiting further updates from doctors. Supporters, well wishers and party workers from different parts of Karnataka have also been offering prayers for Chennamma’s speedy recovery.
As the family continues to wait for positive news, attention remains focused on her medical progress. While doctors continue their treatment, relatives remain hopeful that Chennamma will overcome this health challenge and recover in the days ahead.
