Gruha Jyothi Scheme: How to De-link Your Aadhaar from an RR Number

De-link your Aadhaar from the Gruha Jyothi Scheme with ease. Follow the latest online and offline procedures for Karnataka electricity consumers.

The Karnataka government’s Gruha Jyothi Scheme provides eligible households with up to 200 units of free electricity per month. The benefit is calculated based on the household’s average electricity consumption over the previous 12 months.

To avail the scheme, an Aadhaar number must be linked to the consumer’s electricity RR (Revenue Register) Number. If you have shifted to a new rented house or no longer wish to keep your Aadhaar linked to your previous electricity connection, you can de-link it.

Karnataka’s ESCOMs (Electricity Supply Companies) have provided both online and offline options for Aadhaar de-linking.

How to De-link Aadhaar Online:

Follow these steps to remove your Aadhaar from the Gruha Jyothi Scheme online:

1. Visit the Seva Sindhu portal.

2. Click on the Gruha Jyothi tab on the homepage.

3. Select “De-link from Gruha Jyothi Scheme.”

4. Enter the Aadhaar number that is currently linked to the RR number.

5. Verify your identity by entering the OTP sent to the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar.

6. Select the reason for de-linking.

7. Click Submit to complete the process.

Note: At present, the online registration and Aadhaar de-linking options on the Seva Sindhu portal may not be functioning due to technical issues. If the service is unavailable and you need to de-link your Aadhaar urgently, you can use the offline method.

How to De-link Aadhaar Offline:

You can also visit your nearest ESCOM office (such as BESCOM, MESCOM, HESCOM, CESC, GESCOM, or HUKKERI ESCOM, depending on your area) to complete the process.

Carry the following documents:

Electricity bill or RR Number

Aadhaar card or Aadhaar number

The ESCOM staff will verify your details and de-link your Aadhaar from the electricity connection.

What If You Forgot to De-link After Shifting?

If you have already vacated your previous rented house without de-linking your Aadhaar, there is no need to worry. During verification drives, ESCOM officials may visit your new residence to collect consumer details. You can then provide your Aadhaar information and request either a fresh link or de-linking, as required.
