ndian Railways has been granted to fill 4,098 vacancies for posts including Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA).

Indian Railways Recruitment 2026: The Railway Board has announced a major recruitment drive, bringing good news for candidates aspiring to build a career with Indian Railways. Approval has been granted to fill 4,098 vacancies for posts including Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA).

The recruitment process is expected to begin soon, with the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) likely to release the official notification shortly. Eligible candidates will be able to submit their applications online once the notification is published.

A majority of the vacancies have been earmarked for the Junior Engineer (PWI) category. Recruitment will also be conducted for the following technical posts:

Junior Engineer (Works)

Junior Engineer (Carriage & Wagon)

Junior Engineer (Workshop Mechanical)

Junior Engineer (Track Machine)

Junior Engineer (Bridge)

Junior Engineer (TRS)

Junior Engineer (TRD)

Depot Material Superintendent (DMS)

Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA)

Indian Railways Recruitment 2026 Salary:

All the above posts fall under Pay Level-6 of the Railway Pay Matrix. Selected candidates will receive an attractive salary along with other government allowances and benefits.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates holding a Diploma or B.Tech degree in relevant disciplines will be eligible to apply.

Recruitment will be conducted across key technical departments, including:

Electrical Engineering

Civil Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

Signal & Telecommunication (S&T)

Vacancies will also be available in Design & Drawing, Research & Development, and Diesel Sheds.

Tentative Exam Schedule Released:

Along with approving the vacancies, the Railway Board has also announced the tentative schedule for ALP CBT-2 and Isolated Category examinations.

ALP CBT-2 Exam on July 28

The Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) CBT-2 examination is tentatively scheduled for July 28.

Candidates will be able to check their exam city and exam date around 10 days before the examination. SC/ST candidates can also download their free travel authority during this period.

The e-call letters (admit cards) will be released four days before the exam.

Isolated Category Exam on July 14 and 15

The computer-Based Test (CBT) for Isolated Category posts is scheduled to be held on July 14 and 15.

Information regarding the exam city and admit cards will be made available as per the official schedule.

Aadhaar-Based Biometric Verification Mandatory:

The RRB has made it mandatory for candidates to carry the original photo ID used during the application process to the examination centre.

In addition, Aadhaar-based biometric verification will be conducted at the exam venue. Candidates who fail to complete the biometric verification process will not be allowed to appear for the examination.
