New Delhi: In a major relief to industrial and commercial LPG consumers, the Central Government has completely withdrawn all sector-specific restrictions previously imposed on commercial and non-domestic LPG supplies.
Triggered initially by the geopolitical crisis in West Asia, these supply constraints have now been dismantled, paving the way for operations to return to absolute normalcy. The breakthrough comes as the vital ‘Strait of Hormuz’ maritime route—a critical corridor for India’s crude oil and LPG imports—has reopened for smooth transit.
Consequently, India’s overall import volumes and domestic fuel availability have registered a significant recovery. During the peak of the conflict, when global supply chains faced severe disruption, bulk LPG distribution to commercial users had been entirely suspended to prioritize essential sectors.
With the situation now stabilizing, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has ordered an immediate restoration of supplies to up to 50% of pre-crisis consumption levels. This move is expected to give a massive boost to commercial and industrial consumers looking to scale up production.
To ensure the seamless implementation of this new fuel policy, the Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has issued an official directive to the Chief Secretaries of all States and Union Territories. Officials note that this calibrated restoration will play a pivotal role in balancing the country’s energy demands while driving economic momentum.
