Karnataka is witnessing a strong phase of the southwest monsoon as rain activity continues to intensify across several regions. The India Meteorological Department has warned that the coming days will bring heavy rainfall in multiple districts, especially along the coast and in the hilly interior areas. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious as weather conditions are expected to remain active and unpredictable.
The coastal belt has been placed under a red alert, with Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada expected to receive very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. Officials have also cautioned about strong winds and possible waterlogging in low lying regions. Local administrations have urged fishermen, commuters and residents near riverbanks to take necessary precautions as conditions may worsen temporarily.
In the Malnad region, districts such as Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu are also likely to experience intensified rainfall activity. Gusty winds and continuous showers may affect daily movement, and district authorities have issued advisories asking people to avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru is experiencing a noticeably pleasant climate with cloudy skies dominating the city. Light to moderate showers are expected during morning and evening hours, offering relief from earlier warm conditions. The cityβs weather has remained stable, with occasional drizzle adding to the cool atmosphere across several neighborhoods.
Other parts of the state are also seeing varied monsoon patterns. In the plains including Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Kolar and Davanagere, scattered light rain is likely, bringing mild cooling to the region. Northern districts such as Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri and Gadag are expected to see an increase in rainfall activity, which is likely to benefit agricultural operations and improve soil moisture levels.
Overall, the monsoon has gained momentum across Karnataka, creating contrasting weather conditions between coastal alerts and relatively calm urban weather in Bengaluru. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as rainfall activity is expected to remain strong in the coming days.
