Heavy Rain Alert Across Karnataka; Red Alert Issued for Five Districts

The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall across Karnataka until June 11, issuing red alerts for five districts while warning residents to remain cautious amid possible disruptions.

Heavy rainfall continues to affect several parts of Karnataka, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue fresh warnings for the coming days. According to the latest forecast, intense rainfall is expected to continue across the state until June 11.

In view of the deteriorating weather conditions, a red alert has been declared for five districts β€” Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru. Authorities have warned that these regions could experience very heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging, localized flooding and other weather-related disruptions.

District administrations in the affected areas have been instructed to remain fully prepared. Officials have conducted review meetings and issued directions to taluk-level authorities to ensure swift response in case of emergencies.

Apart from the red-alert districts, an orange alert has been issued for Kodagu, Hassan, Haveri, Belagavi and Dharwad districts, where significant rainfall is also expected over the next few days.

Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been announced for Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Vijayapura, Raichur, Koppal, Bagalkot, Davanagere, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts. Residents in these areas have been advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.

Officials in Uttara Kannada district have specifically urged people to remain vigilant, as the red alert remains in effect until the morning of June 10. The district administration has already initiated monsoon preparedness measures to deal with any emergencies arising from heavy rainfall.

Authorities have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas, stay away from waterlogged locations and follow instructions issued by local administrations. Emergency teams have also been kept on standby in several districts as a precautionary measure.

With heavy rain likely to continue over the next few days, residents across Karnataka are being urged to remain alert and prioritize safety.
