The first step in keeping lemons fresh for a longer time starts with proper cleaning. They should be washed thoroughly in clean water to remove dirt, dust, and any chemical residue from the surface. After washing, it is very important to dry them completely using a clean cloth. Any moisture left on the lemons can speed up spoilage, so they should also be left under a fan for a few minutes to ensure they are fully dry.

Once the lemons are dry, a light protective coating is applied. A small amount of edible oil such as sunflower oil is enough for this process. Using fingers or a soft cloth, each lemon is gently coated with a thin layer of oil. This coating acts like a natural shield, reducing exposure to air and helping the fruit retain its moisture.
