Simple Ultra Electric Scooter Debuts with Claimed 400 Kilometer Range
Simple Energy introduces a premium electric scooter promising long range performance fast acceleration and advanced features while expanding its retail footprint amid rising competition in India electric mobility market

India’s electric two wheeler space has a new entrant aiming to push boundaries. Simple Energy has officially introduced the Simple Ultra, positioning it as a high performance scooter with one of the longest claimed ranges in its category.
While the headline feature is its ambitious range figure, the launch also reflects a broader shift in the company’s strategy. With electric mobility gaining momentum across the country, Simple Energy is not only focusing on product innovation but also expanding its retail presence in key urban markets.
At the heart of the new scooter is a 6.5 kWh battery pack, which the company claims can deliver up to 400 kilometers on a single charge under IDC testing conditions. If real world performance comes close to this figure, it could set a new benchmark in the segment. The scooter is also designed for quick urban mobility, accelerating from 0 to 40 kmph in just under three seconds, with a top speed of around 115 kmph.
The Simple Ultra leans heavily into technology to enhance the riding experience. It features a seven inch touchscreen display that provides ride analytics along with connected features, making it more than just a commuting tool. Riders also get multiple traction control levels, offering better handling across different road conditions.
However, the pricing may limit its mass appeal. With an ex showroom cost of around 2.35 lakh rupees, the scooter enters a space where buyers often consider petrol powered motorcycles with higher engine capacity. This puts pressure on the brand to justify its premium through performance and long term savings.
The company is also working to strengthen its physical presence. Currently, Simple Energy operates dozens of touchpoints in cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi. Plans are underway to expand into emerging markets including Nagpur, Ranchi and Bhubaneswar in the coming months.
The launch comes at a time when competition in the electric scooter market is intensifying. Established players like TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto continue to dominate sales, backed by strong dealer networks and brand trust.
Earlier this year, the company had refreshed its lineup with updated versions of its existing models, including the Simple One and Simple OneS. These models introduced improved battery options and extended range capabilities, along with warranty packages covering the motor, vehicle and charger for multiple years.
With the Simple Ultra, the company is clearly targeting riders who want more than just basic commuting. The question now is whether its performance claims and premium positioning will translate into strong demand in an increasingly competitive market.
