Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China as the largest and most premium model in its new flagship series. The smartphone combines a large main display with a secondary screen on the rear, while its hardware includes a powerful Snapdragon processor and a high capacity battery.
The rear display is one of the most noticeable features of the new smartphone. Xiaomi has placed a 2.9 inch AMOLED screen on the back, which can be used for notifications, small tools and other functions. The company has also added AI related features that allow users to create wallpapers and access different application cards.
The main screen measures 6.9 inches and uses AMOLED technology. It has a resolution of 1208 by 2624 pixels and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The display can reach a peak brightness of up to 4000 nits and also includes a hardware level privacy display feature.
The privacy function is designed to restrict the viewing angle when required. This can make it harder for people sitting nearby to see the information displayed on the phone.
Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. The chipset is based on a 2nm manufacturing process and is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
The phone runs on HyperOS 4 based on Android 17. Xiaomi has also focused on sustained performance with an updated graphics system and an improved cooling arrangement. These features are particularly relevant for users who regularly run demanding applications or play graphics intensive games.
Photography is another major highlight of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. The rear camera system consists of three sensors, including a 200MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with optical image stabilisation and a 50MP ultrawide camera.

In China, Xiaomi has introduced the smartphone in four storage configurations. The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version is priced at CNY 6999, which is approximately Rs 1 lakh based on the supplied conversion.
The 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version costs CNY 7999. The 16GB RAM and 512GB model is priced at CNY 8999, while the top version with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage costs CNY 9999.
Sales have started in China, with the smartphone available in Black, White, Ice Peach Pink and Starry Blue. Xiaomi has also introduced a Transparent Special Edition.
The company has not officially announced an Indian launch for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Xiaomi has also introduced the standard Xiaomi 18 Pro alongside the new premium model in China.
The Pro Max appears to be designed for users who want more than conventional flagship specifications. Its combination of two displays, dual 200MP cameras, a large battery and high end processing hardware gives the phone several distinctive features.
