The Central Government has issued a major update for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. The Modi government is preparing to release the 24th installment, and the financial assistance is expected to be credited to eligible farmers’ bank accounts during October.
With nearly four months having passed since the release of the 23rd installment, and with Dussehra and Diwali approaching, the Centre is likely to transfer Rs 2,000 directly into farmers’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as a festive benefit.
Why Is the 24th Installment Expected in October?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 23rd installment of the PM-KISAN scheme on June 20 during an event held in Tarakeswar, West Bengal. On that occasion, the government transferred Rs 18,880 crore to around 9.44 crore farmers across the country.
Since PM-KISAN installments are generally released every four months, the next cycle is due around October 20. With the festive season of Dussehra and Diwali falling during the same period, the government is expected to release the 24th installment in October.
Launched in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme provides Rs 6,000 annually to eligible farmers in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. So far, the Central Government has disbursed more than Rs 4.46 lakh crore under the scheme.
Four Important Tasks Farmers Must Complete to Receive the 24th Installment:
To ensure the 24th PM-KISAN installment is credited without any delay, farmers must complete the following requirements:
1. Complete e-KYC
Farmers must complete their e-KYC. Those who fail to complete the verification process will not receive the installment.
2. Link Aadhaar with Bank Account
Your Aadhaar number must be linked to your bank account, and the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) facility should be active.
3. Verify Land Records
Check that your land records (Land Seeding) are correctly updated on the PM-KISAN portal. As per the scheme guidelines, only one eligible member per family can avail of the benefit.
4. Complete Farmer Registry
Farmers must register under the Farmer Registry and obtain their Unique Farmer ID. This registration will also help them access other government agricultural schemes and subsidies in the future.
