Gaming smartphone maker Red Magic is preparing its next premium handset, and the upcoming Red Magic 12 Pro Plus is set to focus heavily on performance. The phone is expected to arrive next month with Qualcomms newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset.
Red Magic has confirmed that the new smartphone will be among the early devices to use the latest Qualcomm processor. The company says the chipset is designed to deliver higher performance and improved energy efficiency, which could be particularly useful for gamers spending long hours on demanding titles.
The focus on sustained gaming performance is also influencing the design of the handset. According to Jiang Chao, general manager of Red Magic Gaming Phones, the new device has been designed to handle heavy workloads while maintaining effective cooling during extended gaming sessions.
The Red Magic 12 Pro Plus is expected to feature narrow bezels, giving the phone a more immersive screen design. More details about the display have not yet been officially revealed, but the gaming oriented design suggests that screen performance will remain an important part of the device.
Thermal management could be one of the key features of the upcoming phone. The device is reportedly being developed with a dual cooling arrangement that could help control heat generated by the processor during demanding games.

The Red Magic 11 Pro was launched in international markets last November. That model came with a 6.85 inch BOE X10 Full HD Plus display featuring a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1800 nits.
The previous model was powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and used an AquaCore Cooling system to manage heat. It also featured a large 7500mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.
Photography was not ignored on the Red Magic 11 Pro, although gaming remained its main focus. The rear camera setup included a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP secondary camera and a 2MP macro camera.
For selfies and video calls, the handset featured a 16MP front camera. Security was handled by a 3D fingerprint sensor.
The Red Magic 11 Pro also offered a broad range of connectivity options, including 4G, 5G, Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC and a USB Type C port.
The new Red Magic 12 Pro Plus is expected to build on this hardware foundation while introducing the newer Snapdragon platform and further improvements aimed at gamers.
