WhatsApp is testing a new Message Scheduling feature that will allow users to automatically send messages at a pre-set time without having to manually send them. WhatsApp New Feature: Schedule Messages, Photos and Videos 14 Days in Advance.
With this upcoming feature, users will be able to schedule text messages, links, photos, and videos up to two weeks in advance. According to reports by WABetaInfo and Gadgets 360, the feature is currently available only to a limited group of Android beta testers. Meta has not yet announced an official timeline for its public rollout to all WhatsApp users.
The new feature is expected to be highly useful for sending birthday wishes, office reminders, important updates, and other time-sensitive messages at the right moment. Reports suggest that the scheduling option will work for both individual and group chats, allowing users to set a delivery time ranging from a minimum of 10 minutes to a maximum of two weeks.
The feature will also support photos and videos. However, in the current testing version, users can attach only one photo or video per scheduled message. Once the feature becomes available, users will be able to schedule a message by typing it and then pressing and holding the Send button.
A new option will appear, allowing users to select the preferred date and time. After confirmation, WhatsApp will save the message and automatically deliver it at the scheduled time. Users will also be able to view all scheduled messages through a separate list in the Chat Info section.
They can edit or delete scheduled messages before they are delivered. If a scheduled message is deleted, the recipient will not receive any notification about it. One of the key highlights of the feature is that scheduled messages will be delivered even if the sender’s phone is offline or the WhatsApp application is closed at the scheduled time.
The messages will continue to receive WhatsApp’s existing end-to-end encryption protection, ensuring secure communication. In group chats, scheduled messages will only be delivered to members who are part of the group at the time the message is sent. Any new members who join the group later will not receive the scheduled message.
The feature is currently being tested gradually among users of WhatsApp Android Beta version 2.26.40.7 and is expected to be rolled out globally in the coming days.
