An Air India flight operating from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday morning after receiving a bomb threat, prompting a major security operation at the Jaipur International Airport. The airline later confirmed that a security-related concern had been reported onboard the aircraft.
The Boeing 787-9 aircraft, operating as flight AI-2030, landed safely in Jaipur and was immediately moved to an isolated area for a detailed security inspection. Following the threat alert, security agencies began checking the aircraft, passengers, and their baggage as part of the precautionary measures.
The operation involved the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), airport security teams, and local police officials. The aircraft remained in a designated isolation area while security personnel carried out extensive checks to rule out any possible threat.
According to preliminary information, the pilot briefly transmitted the ‘Squawk Code 7500’ while the aircraft was flying through the Mumbai Flight Information Region (FIR). The code is internationally used to indicate possible unlawful interference or a hijacking-related emergency. However, officials have not yet clarified the reason behind the transmission or whether it was directly connected to the reported bomb threat.
After the safe landing, security personnel conducted a detailed inspection of the aircraft and surrounding areas. Officials are continuing their investigation to determine the nature and credibility of the threat, while further details regarding the incident remain awaited.
Meanwhile, reports stated that the National Security Guard (NSG) was placed on standby in New Delhi in case any additional assistance was required. However, there was no immediate confirmation regarding the deployment of NSG personnel to Jaipur.
Authorities are continuing security procedures to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew members and to establish the circumstances that led to the flight diversion.
