WhatsApp Introduces Mobile Recharge Feature for Airtel Jio and Vi Users

New WhatsApp update allows users to recharge prepaid mobile numbers directly inside the app using UPI debit card or credit card through PayU integration making digital payments faster and more convenient

Digital convenience is taking another step forward as WhatsApp rolls out a new feature that allows users to recharge prepaid mobile numbers without leaving the app. The update is designed to simplify everyday transactions and bring essential services directly into the chat interface.

The feature supports major telecom operators in India including Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea, giving users the ability to recharge their own or others’ numbers within seconds. Instead of switching between apps, everything now happens inside WhatsApp itself.

Interestingly, this new payment experience is powered through the PayU platform, which ensures secure and fast transactions. Users are provided with multiple payment options including UPI, debit card, and credit card, making the process flexible and accessible for a wide audience.

The rollout is being introduced gradually for both Android and iOS users. Over time, it is expected to reach all users across supported regions, making mobile recharges as simple as sending a message.

One of the key highlights of this update is its seamless integration into the app interface. A new rupee icon appears on the home screen, which acts as a gateway to payment services. By tapping on it, users can access recharge options, check available plans, and complete payments in just a few steps.

To complete a recharge, users first select the prepaid mobile recharge option, enter the mobile number, and confirm the telecom operator. After that, they can choose from available plans and proceed to payment. The entire process is designed to be quick, reducing the time and effort usually required for mobile top ups.

This move reflects a broader shift in how digital platforms are merging communication and financial services. By integrating payments directly into messaging, WhatsApp is positioning itself as more than just a chat application, but also a daily utility tool for millions of users.

With increasing demand for fast and hassle free digital transactions, this feature is expected to become popular among users who prefer managing essential services within a single app.
