The phone carries a 10000mAh battery, which is among its most noticeable specifications. Xiaomi has paired the large battery with 100W HyperCharge fast charging. It also supports 27W wired reverse charging, allowing the smartphone to share power with compatible devices.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will be available in India from September 23 through the official Xiaomi website and Amazon. Eligible Jio users can also access an OTT pass for Rs 200, which provides access to 16 premium applications. Google Gemini Pro benefits are also included for eligible users for up to 18 months.

The display is another area where the Pro Max gets considerable attention. It features a 6.83 inch 1.5K AMOLED Super Sunlight panel with a resolution of 2772 by 1280 pixels. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 12 bit colour depth and a claimed peak brightness of 3500 nits.

The panel also supports HDR10 Plus and Dolby Vision, which should make supported movies and other video content more detailed and vibrant. Xiaomi has included TÜV Triple Eye Protection and a hardware level low blue light solution. Wet Touch 2.0 is designed to maintain better touch response when the display becomes wet.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max uses the octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset. The phone comes with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage. This combination is aimed at providing faster application loading and smoother multitasking.

The software is based on Android 16 with HyperOS 3. Xiaomi says the software brings improvements in areas such as performance, battery management and connectivity. The company has also promised four years of software updates and six years of security updates.

Photography is handled by a 50 megapixel primary rear camera with an f/1.5 aperture, OIS and a 6P lens. The main sensor is accompanied by an 8 megapixel ultra wide camera for wider shots.

For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 32 megapixel front camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Video recording is also aimed at users who create content, with support for 4K recording. The rear camera can record 4K video at 30 frames per second, while 1080p recording is supported at up to 60 frames per second. The front camera can record 4K video at 30 frames per second.

The camera application offers several shooting tools, including Live Moments, HDR, Portrait mode, Ultra HD, Panorama and Pro mode with presets. Dual Video is also available, while an Underwater mode is planned through an OTA software update.

Durability is a major part of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max package. The phone carries IP rated protection against dust and water, including IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings as specified for the series. It also uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and comes with SGS and TÜV related quality certifications.

Connectivity features include 4G, 5G, dual band WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, an infrared blaster and a USB Type C port. This gives the phone support for a wide range of everyday wireless and wired connections.

With its 10000mAh battery, 100W fast charging, Snapdragon processor and high brightness 120Hz AMOLED display, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is positioned as a feature packed smartphone in the Indian market. The combination of a 50 megapixel OIS camera and extensive water and dust protection further broadens its appeal, while the long software support commitment gives the device a longer expected update cycle.
