OnePlus Nord 3 Gets Fresh Security Update as Brand Extends Support for Popular Device
OnePlus has started rolling out the June 2026 security update for Nord 3 users in India, making it the first company device to receive the latest Android security patch.

OnePlus users have received another reason to hold on to their older smartphones. The company has begun rolling out a new software update for the OnePlus Nord 3, a device that was originally launched in 2023. The update brings the latest June 2026 Android security patch and reinforces the brand’s commitment to long term software support.
Interestingly, the Nord 3 has become the first OnePlus smartphone to receive the June 2026 security update. The rollout has started in India and is currently being released in phases, meaning users may receive the update at different times over the coming days.
According to details shared by the company, the new OxygenOS 16 update carries firmware version CPH2491_16.0.5.1001 for Indian users. While the update does not introduce major new features or interface changes, it focuses on strengthening system security and improving device protection against newly identified vulnerabilities.
For many smartphone owners, security updates may not appear as exciting as feature packed upgrades, but they play a crucial role in keeping personal information safe. Regular security patches help safeguard devices from potential threats and ensure smoother performance over time.
The update also highlights the strong software support policy promised for the Nord 3. When the smartphone was launched, it came with Android 13 based OxygenOS 13.1. OnePlus committed to providing three major Android version upgrades and four years of security updates. Since the device has already received Android 16, its final major operating system upgrade, users can continue to expect security support until mid 2027.
The continued support has been welcomed by many Nord 3 owners, especially at a time when consumers are increasingly looking for devices that remain relevant for several years after purchase.
The OnePlus Nord 3 remains a capable smartphone even today. It features a 6.74 inch Fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10 plus support. Protection is provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, helping improve durability during daily use.
Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The smartphone also includes a triple rear camera setup led by a 50 megapixel primary sensor, accompanied by an ultra wide camera and an additional depth sensor. For selfies and video calls, it offers a 16 megapixel front camera.
Battery performance continues to be one of the phone’s strengths. The Nord 3 packs a 5000mAh battery with support for 80W SuperVOOC fast charging, allowing users to recharge quickly and stay connected throughout the day.
With the latest security patch now rolling out, OnePlus is sending a clear message that even older devices remain an important part of its software ecosystem. Users who receive the update notification are advised to install it to ensure their phones remain protected with the newest security improvements.
