Fresh leaks suggest OnePlus 16 may arrive with a high refresh rate OLED display flagship processor advanced AI camera features and a massive 200 megapixel periscope telephoto lens

Excitement around the upcoming OnePlus 16 continues to grow as new leaks reveal several premium features that could make the smartphone one of the company’s most powerful flagship devices yet. Reports suggest the brand is focusing heavily on display technology, camera performance and overall user experience for its next generation smartphone.
According to recent leaks shared by well known Chinese tipsters, the OnePlus 16 may feature an advanced OLED display with extremely high refresh rate support. Earlier rumors hinted at a 240Hz refresh rate, while the latest reports suggest the device could arrive with a 185Hz display. Even if the final specification settles at 185Hz, it would still become the highest refresh rate ever offered on a OnePlus smartphone.
The company’s previous flagship devices already focused on smooth visuals and gaming performance, but the upcoming OnePlus 16 appears ready to take that experience further. The smartphone is expected to feature a flat OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and ultra slim bezels on all sides, offering an immersive viewing experience for entertainment and gaming users.
Camera upgrades are also becoming one of the biggest talking points around the device. Leaks suggest the OnePlus 16 may include a powerful 200 megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom support. This could significantly improve long range photography and detailed image capture compared to earlier models. Industry watchers believe the company is aiming to strengthen its position in the premium camera smartphone segment.
Reports also indicate that the phone could include a dedicated AI button designed to support intelligent camera and system features. Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a key part of modern smartphones, and OnePlus may use AI enhancements for photography optimization, productivity tools and faster user interactions.
Performance is expected to be another strong area for the OnePlus 16. The smartphone may be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, reportedly carrying model number SM8975. The chipset is expected to deliver extremely high performance with clock speeds that could reach up to 5GHz, making the device suitable for gaming, multitasking and demanding applications.
On the software side, the smartphone is likely to run on OxygenOS 17 based on Android 17. OnePlus devices are already known for offering smooth software experiences, and the new operating system is expected to bring additional optimization and AI driven features.
Although the company has not officially confirmed the specifications, industry insiders believe the smartphone could launch first in China around October this year. If the leaked features turn out to be accurate, the OnePlus 16 may emerge as a strong competitor in the flagship smartphone market with its combination of premium display technology, advanced camera system and next generation processing power.
