Hyundai has introduced the refreshed Ioniq 5 electric SUV in India featuring a larger battery improved range upgraded technology and enhanced comfort aiming to strengthen its position in the growing premium EV market

Hyundai has expanded its electric vehicle lineup in India with the launch of the updated Ioniq 5. The new version of this premium electric SUV arrives at a time when the EV market is becoming increasingly competitive. With this update, the company aims to offer better range, improved features and a more refined driving experience for Indian buyers.
The starting price of the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is around 55.70 lakh rupees ex showroom. It continues to sit in the premium electric SUV segment and now comes with noticeable upgrades in battery capacity and driving range. The vehicle is based on Hyundai’s global E GMP platform, which is specifically designed for electric mobility.
One of the most important changes in this updated model is the larger 84 kWh battery pack. Earlier versions were offered with a smaller 72.6 kWh unit. With this upgrade, the SUV now delivers an ARAI certified range of nearly 690 kilometers, making it more suitable for long distance travel compared to its previous version.
Hyundai has also focused on design refinements in this update. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the front and rear bumpers have been redesigned for a sharper look. New skid plates and updated alloy wheels add a more modern touch to the exterior styling. The SUV is available in multiple colour options including Gravity Gold Matte, Optic White, Titan Grey and Midnight Black Pearl.
Inside the cabin, the changes are more noticeable. The SUV now features a new three spoke steering wheel that gives a refreshed feel to the driver’s space. It also comes with dual 12.3 inch screens that combine the infotainment system and instrument cluster, along with an updated wireless charging pad for smartphones.
On the technology front, the new Ioniq 5 includes connected car features such as over the air updates, built in navigation cockpit and support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. These additions are aimed at making the driving experience more convenient and connected for users.
Hyundai India Managing Director Tarun Garg highlighted that the Ioniq 5 has already received strong global acceptance and played an important role in the company’s electric journey. He added that the updated version improves range, technology and overall user comfort, strengthening its appeal in the premium EV space.
The updated Ioniq 5 will compete in India with models like Kia EV6, Volvo EX30, BYD Sealion 7 and BMW iX1 LWB. With this launch, Hyundai is clearly aiming to reinforce its position in the fast growing electric SUV segment where innovation and range are becoming key deciding factors for customers.
