Budget Smartphone Battle Heats Up with Poco C81, Redmi A7 and Realme Narzo 70x 5G

Three affordable smartphones compete with different strengths including battery life performance display and camera features making the choice tougher for buyers looking for value in the budget segment

The budget smartphone segment in India is witnessing fresh competition as Poco C81 enters the market, taking on rivals like Redmi A7 and Realme Narzo 70x 5G. Each device brings a different mix of specifications, making it important for buyers to look closely before making a decision.

Performance is one area where the differences begin to show. Both Poco C81 and Redmi A7 rely on the same UNISOC T7250 processor built on a 12nm architecture, offering similar entry level performance suited for daily tasks. In contrast, the Realme Narzo 70x 5G steps ahead with the MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chipset, giving it an advantage in speed and 5G connectivity, which may appeal to users planning for future network upgrades.

Display quality is another deciding factor. Poco C81 features a large 6.9 inch HD plus screen, slightly bigger than the Redmi A7’s 6.88 inch panel. Both offer a 120Hz refresh rate, which is uncommon at this price point. However, the Realme Narzo 70x 5G moves ahead with a sharper Full HD plus display on its 6.72 inch screen, making it more suitable for content consumption and gaming.

Battery capacity varies significantly across the three models. Poco C81 stands out with a massive 6300 mAh battery, promising extended usage for heavy users. Redmi A7 offers a 5200 mAh unit, which is decent for everyday needs. Meanwhile, Realme Narzo 70x 5G packs a 5000 mAh battery but compensates with faster 45W charging support, allowing users to quickly power up their device.

When it comes to cameras, Realme once again takes the lead. It features a 50 megapixel primary rear camera along with a secondary sensor, delivering better photography potential. Poco C81 and Redmi A7 both stick to a 13 megapixel primary camera setup, which is adequate for casual photography. All three devices include 8 megapixel front cameras for selfies and video calls.

Software experience also differs across the lineup. Poco C81 runs on a newer Android 16 based interface, while Redmi A7 comes with Android 15. The Realme Narzo 70x 5G operates on Android 14 with Realme UI, offering a slightly different user experience depending on personal preference.

In terms of pricing, Redmi A7 is the most affordable option, followed closely by Poco C81, while Realme Narzo 70x 5G sits at a slightly higher price point but offers additional features like 5G and a better display. Design and weight also vary, with Realme’s device being slimmer and lighter compared to the bulkier Poco C81.

Connectivity options further highlight the gap. Realme Narzo 70x 5G supports both 4G and 5G networks along with NFC, while Poco C81 and Redmi A7 remain limited to 4G connectivity, though they still include essential features like Wi Fi, Bluetooth and USB Type C.

Overall, the choice between these smartphones depends on user priorities. Those seeking long battery life may prefer Poco C81, while buyers focused on affordability might lean toward Redmi A7. For users who want better performance, sharper display and 5G support, Realme Narzo 70x 5G emerges as the more future ready option in this competitive segment.
