Mangaluru: High school student gave birth to baby girl, police filed rape case

A high school student gave birth to a baby girl through normal delivery. The incident took place at Uppinangadi in Dakshina Kannada district. The parents who found that the abdominal region of the girl seemed like increasingly swelling over the past weeks, felt that some kind of tumour was developing inside.

They therefore admitted her into a hospital where the doctors said she was pregnant and her delivery date was expected soon. On Thursday, she gave birth to a female child in normal delivery in a hospital near Mangaluru. The medical officers of the hospital had brought the matter to the notice of Uppinangady police.

When approached, the girl gave the name of the person who raped her as Keshav (34) from Madmettimar House, Hirebandady vllage. Keshav, who is unmarried, was taken into custody and questioned.

Keshav has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act in a case registered in Uppinangady police station.
