Mangaluru: Four of family found dead in house fear of religious conversion

Mangaluru In a shocking incident, a man ended his life and his wife and two kids were found dead due to poisoning at their residence at Mangluru. The incident came to light on Wednesday December 8 morning. The police have claimed that case through poisoning were backed by family squabbles and the fear of religious conversion.

The incident came to light on Wednesday December 8 morning in Mangaluru. A 30-year-old man is accused of killing his wife and two kids before he died by suicide. Nagesh, who was working as a driver, was found hanging from the ceiling of his house. Preliminary investigation revealed that Nagesh’s wife Vijayalakshmi (26), who was working as a security guard, daughter Sapna (8) and son Samarth (4), were reportedly poisoned to death.

A 30-year-old husband, it is learnt, had got drunk and assaulted his wife in October this year. She had deserted him. A missing complaint was filed in October as his wife went missing after she alleged domestic violence. Later she came to the Mangaluru police station saying she was living with a lady known to her and agreed to enter into a compromise with her husband. Later, the two had come together at the police station where they agreed to live harmoniously.

The family hailed from Sunag village in Bilagi taluk in Bagalkot district and had rented the house just 15 days ago. “Vijayalakshmi had gone missing recently after which Nagesh had filed a missing a complaint with Mangaluru south police,” said police.

Mangaluru Police said that the case was closed after she returned home after some days. DCP Hariram Shankar and city commissioner N Shashi Kumar along with a team of officials went to the spot where the incident took place.
