Mangaluru Airport: People coming to Mangalore International Airport to pick up their loved ones and relatives will soon be allowed to enter the airport terminal. However, you will have to pay a fee to enter. At present, those who come to pick up passengers are only allowed to enter the ground floor.
The airport management plans to formulate a plan to allow entry of passengers inside the arrival terminal of the airport. According to sources, final preparations are said to be underway to launch the service. The preparations are said to include issues such as security clearance from the CISF, allocation of a designated place for the passenger gallery to pick up passengers.
The airport authorities have already set up a outside the arrival lobby charging around Rs 100 per ticket. Service details regarding terminal entry for pick-up passengers will be available soon. Once the service is launched, people will get a chance to meet arriving passengers at the airport’s arrival terminal. It was recently learned that the number of passengers at Mangalore International Airport has increased by 76 percent in the financial year 2022-23.
17,94,054 passengers travelled through the airport during this period. A spokesperson of Mangalore International Airport said that 10,16,559 people had travelled in the financial year 2021-22. A total of 17.94 lakh passengers travelled through the airport, of which 12.08 lakh were domestic passengers. He informed that 5.86 lakh were international passengers, mainly traveling to Gulf countries. Along with this, it was known that the popularity of Mangalore airport is increasing.
