Be careful in case you lose your Aadhaar card. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) that issues the Aadhaar number has suggested using the lock and unlock option available on the website. Even when renting a house, the details of the tenant should be known thoroughly. He warned the people of the state through a tweet that they should be aware of what is happening around the house.

How to Lock-Unlock Aadhaar Details?

Enter the required details on the Unique Identification Authority UIDAI website, after verifying your identity there is an option to lock your Aadhaar details. Thus if Aadhaar data is locked then no one will be able to verify any information using your Aadhaar number.

 This means that the chances of fraud by miscreants, including getting a SIM, opening a bank account, are reduced. But the public should also keep in mind that once the profile is locked, you too will not be able to complete any authentication process using the Aadhaar details until it is unlocked.

If you want to lock your Aadhaar profile, first generate a 16-digit virtual ID number. SMS or UIDAI website can be used for this. You can directly go to the profile lock section through the https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bio-lock link. Or click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab on the UIDAI website.

Then go to ‘Aadhaar lock/unlock’ section under ‘Aadhaar Services’ section. Enter your Aadhaar number. Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile. Then click on ‘Enable’ option on the screen. After this step your biometric details will be locked.

If there is a situation where you need to unlock your biometric details, enter the previously obtained virtual ID. Enter the OTP. After you enter the OTP, your Aadhaar biometric details will be unlocked.
