Karnataka reports 5,031 cases, metro timing revised for weekend

On Thursday, Karnataka recorded 5,031 fresh Covid cases and one death in the last 24 hours. Bengaluru alone reported 4,324 infections in a day. The positive rate in the state stands at 3.95 per cent and no fresh cases of the Omicron variant were detected today. Bengaluru metro revised train timing foe weekend.

The number of Omicron cases in Karnataka stands at 226. A total of 14 police personnel has tested positive for Covid-19 in Bengaluru, taking the tally to 26. The city police sources said that all the police officers who have tested positive had received both the doses of Covid vaccine. The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will be reducing hours of Metro operations and the frequency of trains for the next two weekends amid rising cases of the Covid in the state.

In a press release, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) announced the guidelines. The BMRCL stated that the frequency of the train would be reduced to 20 minutes.

Revised metro timings: The BMRCL has revised the operational timings of the Bengaluru metro on Saturdays and Sundays when train services will be from 8 am to 9 pm due to the night curfew imposed by the state government. The first train from the terminal stations – Nagasandra, Silk Institute, Kengeri and Baiyappanahalli – will start from 8 am and the last train will start from 9 pm at the terminal stations.

From Monday to Thursday, operations will be normal and train services will run from 5 am to 11 pm with reduced frequency during the last one hour. On Fridays alone, train services will be closed one hour early, at 10 pm instead of 11 pm.
