Team India Player Take back his retirement decision

Bengal Sports Minister and Team India player Manoj Tiwary, who is active in both politics and cricket, recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. But this time they changed their decision after just five days.

Bengal veteran batsman Manoj Tiwary made a U-turn on his sudden decision to retire from all formats of cricket five days ago, to announce a return to red-ball cricket for one more season and help his state win the elusive Ranji Trophy title.

On Tuesday, 8 August, Tiwary announced that he has decided to come out of his few days-old retirement to play one more season for Bengal in the red-ball format and hopefully help the team bag the elusive Ranji Trophy crown. Manoj announced his sudden retirement from the game on social media last Thursday.

In a press conference held at the Media Center of the Eden Gardens, Tiwary was accompanied by CAB President Snehashish Ganguly and Hony Secretary Naresh Ojha. “A player and leader like him must retire on the cricket field and not in this manner. He has contributed immensely to Bengal Cricket, so he deserves a special and proper farewell,” the former BCCI president further added.

The last time Bengal won the Ranji Trophy was in 1989-90. Last season, under the captaincy of Manoj Tiwari had entered the final. But had to face defeat against Saurashtra. 37-year-old Tiwary shared his opinion that he wants to make the Bengal team champion again in Ranji.

At a very young age, Manoj Tiwari is serving as the Sports Minister in West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government. Apart from this, he is also continuing in cricket. He said that he intends to play for one more year and then announce his retirement.

Manoj Tiwary is just 92 runs away from the milestone of 10,000 runs in first-class cricket. Has smashed 29 centuries at an average of 48.56. He has been playing first-class cricket for a total of 19 years. Represented the Indian team in limited overs cricket for one year.

He played 12 ODIs for Team India and scored 287 runs. It has 1 century and 1 half century. He represented the Indian team in three T20Is and scored 15 runs in only one innings. Played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Rising Pune Super giants in IPL. He has scored 1,686 runs from 98 IPL matches including 7 fifties.
