S Sreesanth play for CSK in IPL 2022

IPL mega auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. After his 7-year ban ended, S Sreesanth the Kerala-born pacer made headlines when he put his name for auction in the upcoming mega-auction for a base price of Rs 50 lakh. Some reports say S Sreesanth may play for Chennai super kings CSK in IPL 2022.

The captain cool world class skipper MS dhoni had famously picked S Sreesanth for the 2011 World Cup Final out of nowhere. So what’s to suggest that he may not do the same in the IPL this year? Chennai Super Kings retained Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad in that order. Jadeja was retained for Rs 16 crore, while Dhoni took home Rs 12 crore. Ali was retained for Rs 8 crore while Gaikwad bagged Rs 6 crore.

CSK are also called Dad’s Army for a reason and the 37-year-old Sreesanth fits their profile. Although S Sreesanth may find it difficult to play in the team due to the presence of Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar, a season under MS Dhoni could do his confidence a world of good. With the IPL set to take place in India this season, S Sreesanth could benefit from the slow tracks at the Chepauk.

On a pitch where the fast bowlers have to rely on their variations and match awareness, it could be the perfect setup that rejuvenates S Sreesanth’s career. A total of 1214 players have registered for the Auction; the deadline for which was set at January 21. The list includes 270 capped players, 903 Uncapped, and 41 associate nation players. Apart from 896 Indian players, a total of 318 overseas players have registered in the Auction.

Australia, South Africa, and West indies have the most number of players in the auction list. There are a total of 59 players from Australia, 48 players from South Africa, and 41 players from West Indies. Apart from these three, there are 36, 30 and 29 players from Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand respectively. While we are excited to see a lot of overseas players, we also have a lot of absentees.

The likes of Ben Stokes, Chris Gayle, Jofra Archer, Mitchell Starc, Chris Woakes, and Sam Curran have decided to opt out of IPL 2022 due to personal issues. The tournament would definitely miss their services as they are one of the most loved players across the world.

From the players’ salary bracket point of view, the base salaries have been set to INR 2 Cr, INR 1.5 Cr, and INR 1 Cr, INR 50L, and INR 20L. The highest base price bracket has a total of 49 players including 17 Indians and 32 overseas. INR 1.5 Cr has a total of 3 Indians and 17 overseas players. Whereas INR 1 Cr bracket has a total of 10 Indians and 22 overseas players.
