RCB former coach joins Bangladesh cricket team

Asia Cup 2022 is a forthcoming cricket tournament that will entertain fans from all over the world. The tournament begins on August 27 and will conclude on September 11, when the final will be played. In recent development Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) former coach joins Bangladesh cricket team ahead of Asia Cup 2022. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed former India all-rounder Sridharan Sriram as the technical consultant for the national team for the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.

A total of 6 teams will be part of the cricket tournament Asia Cup 2022. India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are the 5 confirmed teams that will lock horns with each other. One team from Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore, and UAE will capture the 6th spot. A qualifier round will take place ahead of the tournament and the winner will grab the spot in the 6th team.

BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon confirmed to Sportstar that Sriram “has been appointed as the technical consultant and not coach. His tenure will be from the Asia Cup until the T20 World Cup.” RCB former coach Sridharan Sriram worked with the Australian team for six years from 2016, as assistant coach and spin-bowling coach, and has a role with Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL.

In his time with Australia, he had a big impact on Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar, and worked closely with Nathan Lyon. He has also worked on developing Glenn Maxwell as a T20 spinner both during his time with Australia and RCB. It was under former Australian coach Darren Lehmann, Sriram was entrusted with the responsibility as a spin bowling coach in 2016.

The 46-year-old recently stepped down from that position to focus on his role with the Indian Premier League (IPL) side, Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB former coach Sridharan Sriram played eight ODIs for India between 2000 and 2004, scoring one fifty and picking up nine wickets, and has a long and distinguished first-class career.
