Kane Williamson new captain for CSK in IPL 2023

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) will retire from the IPL after the IPL-2023 tournament. 41 year old MS Dhoni Next year’s IPL will be the last tournament and it is almost certain that Dhoni will retire from all forms of cricket. Kane Williamson new captain for CSK in IPL 2023.

MS Dhoni, who has led the Chennai Super Kings team to the finals 9 times in the IPL, has won the title four times. CSK was the IPL champion under Dhoni’s leadership in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021. There is a lot of curiosity about who will lead the Chennai Super Kings after MS Dhoni retirement.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was appointed as the captain for the last tournament, resigned from the captaincy in the middle of the tournament due to consecutive defeats. So again MS Dhoni took the captaincy of the CSK team. Ravindra Jadeja is unlikely to get the captaincy of the Chennai team again after last year incident.

So Chennai Super Kings are looking for a new captain right away. Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha believes Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will have to look for a new captain if MS Dhoni retires from the IPL next season.

“Until MS Dhoni is there, there can’t be a different skipper. I would have given Kane Williamson’s name as the team needs a player who can continue for 5-6 years and bring stability to the team. This could be MS Dhoni’s last season, and the franchise will have to prepare for the new leader in advance,” he said.
