IPL 2022: Ruturaj Gaikwad CSK next captain after Dhoni

IPL 2022 starts within few months, CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad is playing superb cricket in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22. Now the talks are heated that after Dhoni Ruturaj Gaikwad is next captain for Chennai Super king and fans demand that.

The 24-year-old Maharashtra opener Ruturaj Gaikwad beat his third consecutive hundredth in the ongoing 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy at Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground, Rajkot. He now has 414 points in three games in the current tournament, he needs 414 more to top Prithvi Shaw’s tally of most points in a single season by Vijay Hazare.

And also, Ruturaj Gaikwad had won centuries against Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, helping his team win both matches. He scored 136 against Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday and scored 154 not out against Chattisgarh a day later.

The right-hander Ruturaj Gaikwad is currently the top scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with Maharashtra leading the Group D table with eight points.Winner of the orange cap of the recent edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Ruturaj was named captain of Maharashtra before the Vijay Hazare tournament.

He was also in touch in the last season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scoring 259 points in five outings with an average of over 60. Ruturaj now being a key part of the Chennai setup, fans of the franchise were quick to praise his blistering form with the bat. A record-breaking IPL season with Chennai also led Ruturaj to be retained by the quadruple champions. The reigning champions selected Ravindra Jadeja (16 crore), MS Dhoni (12 crore), Moeen Ali (8 crore) and Gaikwad (6 crore) ahead of the 2022 IPL mega-auction.
