India vs England: Big blow, main Bowler and Batsman injured, out from T20 world cup semi-final

Team India will face Jos Buttler-led England in the second semi-final of the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10). India vs England: Big blow, Top main Bowler and Batter injured, out from T20 world cup semi-final. England Mark Wood, Dawid Malan doubtful for T20 world cup semi-final.

England fast bowler Mark Wood and batsman Dawid Malan are injury doubts ahead of Thursday’s T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against India, captain Jos Buttler said. Express paceman Wood withdrew from training on Tuesday with the team saying he had “body stiffness”, while Malan had a groin strain in the Super 12 win over Sri Lanka.

Buttler said the decision to include the duo lay with medical staff ahead of the match at Adelaide Oval. “We trust those two guys as well and we’ll give them as long as possible (to prove their fitness),” Buttler told reporters at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday. “As always we have 15 guys preparing to play.”

The unused Phil Salt is the only batting cover in England’s squad and could slot in for number three batsman Malan, though selectors might opt for an extra bowler. “I think he has a fantastic mindset for the T20 format,” Buttler said of hard-hitting wicketkeeper Salt, who knows the venue well as a member of Big Bash League side Adelaide Strikers. “He certainly doesn’t fear anyone.

“Certainly, I wouldn’t expect to see anything else from him if he gets the chance to play.” As per the aforementioned report, pacer Chris Jordan is likely to replace Wood in England’s playing XI tomorrow. Jordan last played against Australia the previous month, during the second of the three-match T20I series in Canberra where he returned with bowling figures of 3-0-39-0.

While Jordan’s experience might prove to be handy come tomorrow, the English camp will miss Wood’s services for sure, who has emerged to be the go-to man for skipper Jos Buttler during the middle and the death Overs this World Cup. He is presently England’s second-highest wicket-taker this tournament, with 9 wickets across 4 innings at a remarkable average and economy rate of 12.00 and 7.71 runs per Over respectively.
