Dry Day 2024: All wine shops, bars will be closed for 3 days
Bars and wine shops in Mumbai will be closed from 5 pm on May 18 due to the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and will reopen on May 20 at 5 pm. All wine shops and bars will be closed on polling day to maintain public order.
Mumbai will observe dry days from May 18 to 20 due to the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Elections will be held on May 20 in the major constituencies of Mumbai, Palghar, Kalyan and Thane in Maharashtra. These fields also observe dry days.
As per the directives of Election Commission of India (ECI), the constituencies where the election is held and the adjoining constituencies must follow these dry days. This move will ensure a fair and peaceful electoral process in the affected areas.
Bars and wine shops in Mumbai will be closed from 5 pm on May 18 and will reopen on May 20 at 5 pm. All wine shops and bars will be closed on polling day to maintain public order. There will be another dry day in Mumbai during the counting of votes on June 4 till the results are announced.
According to reports, Haryana’s Gurgaon will observe dry days from 6 pm on May 23 to 6 pm on May 25 due to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Sale of liquor will be banned in Delhi-NCR on those days.
Dry days have been declared in Pune, Shirur and Maval constituencies where polling will take place on May 13. Sale of liquor is prohibited from 6 pm on May 11 to 6 pm on May 13.

Dry days in Kolkata
In Kolkata, there are seven dry days in May, affecting a full weekend and part of another. Designated dry days begin at 6pm on May 18 and all day on May 19. Liquor ban will also be observed till the end of polling on May 20.
