IND vs SA: Team India All-rounder test positive for Covid-19

IND vs SA India all-rounder Washington Sundar has tested positive for Covid-19, and his availability for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa remains in doubt. Washington Sundar is recovering after testing positive for Covid-19, but his participation in the upcoming ODI series is not confirmed.

“Yes, Sundar has indeed tested positive for Covid-19. He is recovering now, however, it cannot be specified as of now whether he will be available for the ODIs IND vs SA Series or not,” the source pointed. Sundar has been on the sidelines for almost one year and he had last played for India in March 2021.

He was recently a part of the Tamil Nadu squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the competition, he did pretty well and this led to him receiving a call-up for the IND vs SA ODI series . If Sundar is not able to make it in time, then it would be interesting to see who the selectors name as a replacement. India and South Africa will lock horns in three ODIs, beginning January 19.

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has put forward an interesting idea. Pathan suggested to BCCI a ‘charity-cum-farewell game’ between a team comprising retired Indian cricketers who never received a proper send-off against the current Indian team led by Virat Kohli.

Irfan Pathan has come up with an exciting idea which could turn into reality if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is interested. Pathan made up a playing XI of the recently retired cricketers – Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan, Prgayan Ojha – and suggested that they could take on the current Indian team players led by Virat Kohli in a match which could also act as a send-off for those who didn’t get a farewell game from the Indian cricket board.

Pathan also suggested that the match can be played for a good cause with the proceeds going towards charity. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina were the latest in a long list of Indian cricket legends who recently announced their international retirement. Pathan had decided to quit all cricket in January this year.
