The Indian cricket team is busy preparing for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup at home. The tournament is scheduled to be held in October-November 2023. India has been selected to host this prestigious tournament. In 2011, India won the title in hosting the ODI World Cup. Coach Rahul Dravid has started his selection preparations. There was a big indication of this in the first match of the ODI series against Australia.

Team India suffered a setback ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup as wicket keeper Rishabh Pant was seriously injured in a car accident. In December 2022, while on his way to town, his car met with an accident. Rishabh Pant had to undergo knee surgery and is now slowly starting to walk with the help of crutches. Thus, KL Rahul kept wicket continuously before Pant for Team India in ODI series.

Although Ishan Kishan is the main wicket keeper in the team, coach KL Rahul is likely to be given a chance. In such a situation, it is clear that he will play the role of the team’s leading wicket keeper in the ICC ODI World Cup.

KL Rahul captained the side after Rohit Sharma was ruled out due to injury in the 2022 ODI in Bangladesh. In this match, Ishan Kishan was the wicket keeper but he was included in the team as a batsman.

Ishan Kishan scored a blistering double century in the ODI against Bangladesh. Besides captaining the match, KL Rahul kept the wicket. Rohit Sharma missed the first match of the 3-match ODI series against Australia due to personal reasons.
