In her complaint, Aishwaryaa said that she had last worn the jewellery for her sister Soundarya’s wedding in 2019. The jewels were then kept in a locker, which was shifted thrice in 2021. Her house helps were reportedly aware of the same.

Aishwaryaa stated that the keys to her locker remained in her residence in St Mary’s Road, Chennai, even when it was moved to her estranged husband Dhanush’s CIT Nagar home and then to her house in Poes Garden.

The FIR was filed in February after Aishwarya opened the locker and realised that her ornaments were missing. She said that she had been collecting the pieces since her marriage with superstar Dhanush. As per India Today, diamond sets, antique gold pieces, Navaratnam sets, bangles and nearly 60 sovereigns of gold worth were stolen from the locker of Rajinikanth’s daughter.
