Former Pakistan player made big statement on Virat Kohli

Aggressive cricketer world class player Virat Kohli form has become a huge talking point in the cricketing spectrum. Having been rested for the ongoing white-ball series against the West Indies, it remains to be seen whether Kohli will return for India’s next assignment against Zimbabwe. Former Pakistan player made big statement on Virat Kohli.

With several experts and Pakistan player sharing their views on Virat Kohli current form, former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Yousuf said it was a part and parcel of the game. “This is a part of the game where a player goes out of form. It has been a lengthier patch for him. But what he has contributed so far, after Sachin Tendulkar, is the player to make that kind of a contribution.

Cricketer Virat Kohli has scored 71 centuries, within a span of 11 years, especially in white-ball cricket. In Tests, he could not do as much as he did in white-ball cricket. However, he has scored 27 Test tons as well. For me, this is a part of the game. Maybe it has to do with the way he has been treated that he has gone under pressure. He would know better,” cricketer Yousuf said during a chat with Pakistan channel ARY News.

Virat Kohli did not have a memorable series against England recently where he featured in the fifth and final Test as well as two T20I matches and two ODIs against The Three Lions. While he scored 11 and 20 runs respectively in the 5th Test, he returned to the white-ball team after missing the first match of the T20I series but could only manage scores of 1, 11 runs respectively in the T20 series and amassed 33 runs from two innings in ODIs.

“But for me the way he has performed, he is the best player of the last 10 years or so. Among the players who have played cricket in the last 10 years, he has been the No. 1 player,” Yousuf added. Former India captain Virat Kohli has been going through a rough patch off late. After a modest T20 and ODI series against England, Kohli asked for a break and skipped the limited-overs series against West Indies. The next assignment for the Royal Challengers Bangalore batter could be the ODI series against Zimbabwe ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 in UAE next month.

Former chairman of selectors Saba Karim believes that team management need to figure out whether Kohli is essential for India’s preparation for the T20 World Cup 2022 or not. “First, I think the selectors and the team management have to figure out whether Virat Kohli is essential for India’s preparation for India’s T20 World Cup side or not. And once the selectors decide the team management feels that Virat Kohli is essential to the team’s success then I’d chart a path for Virat Kohli’s come back to great form,” Saba Karim said on Sports18’s daily sports news show ‘Sports Over The Top’.
