Delhi Capitals former captain made big statement on David Warner

David Warner is one of the finest batters in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his numbers speak volumes of his prowess. In a recent development Delhi Capitals former captain made big statement on David Warner between IPL 2022.

The Australian southpaw belongs to a rare breed of batters who can score quick runs and that too with astonishing consistency. He has been sensational in the ongoing IPL 2022 as well and Delhi Capitals would be mighty pleased with his performance. David Warner’s second stint at Delhi Capitals has been a memorable one so far.

The Australian opening batsman has been the most consistent batter for the franchise since his arrival. The efforts he has put in to prove his credentials have been enormous, but it wasn’t always such a case. Warner has only played for two IPL franchises in his career. He joined Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2009 and was released after the 2013 season.

He spent the next 8 years at Sunrisers Hyderabad before re-joining DC in 2022. Virender Sehwag, who captained David Warner when the latter was a part of the Delhi Daredevils squad during his initial days in the IPL, has made a big revelation about the explosive Aussie batsman, exposing his poor work ethics.

“I too have vented out my frustrations on a couple of players and David Warner was one of them. Because when he had joined newly, he partied more than believing in practice or playing matches. In the first year, he had a fight with a few players so we sent him back for the last two matches. So sometimes it happens that you keep someone out to teach them a lesson.

“He was new so it was important to show him that you alone are not important for the team, others are too. There are other players who can play and win the match for the team too. And that’s what happened. We kept him out of the team and won as well,” Sehwag revealed while speaking on Cricbuzz.

Warner’s history at the Delhi Capitals might not be the best but that didn’t bother the franchise owners one bit as they went for the Aussie in the IPL 2022 mega auction. The owners were pretty delighted to have signed the 2021 T20 World Cup winner for a cut-price deal of INR 6.25 crore.
