MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni has been retained by the franchise for Rs. 12 crore and there are no doubts that he will again lead the franchise in the next season. MS Dhoni has successfully proved his captainship by winning 4 titles for the team so far. Although he is not able to recreate his hard-hitting batting show now, Dhoni is a brilliant option for a skipper and wicketkeeper for the team.

Krunal Pandya

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur did an outstanding job for the team in IPL 2021. The right-arm pacer picked 21 wickets in 16 games and was the top wicket-taker for CSK. Hence, the franchise might aim to pick him back in the squad. Thakur is also a useful tail ender batsman with his ability to pile up runs at the lower-order if the need arises.

T. Natarajan

T. Natarajan’s rise in international cricket has served as an inspiration to all Indian cricket fans. The left-arm pacer from Tamil Nadu rose to prominence after playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2020, earning him international callups.  However, despite playing in all three forms, his career has been stalled due to a slew of ailments and setbacks.

Natarajan played for the Sunrisers in IPL 2020 and picked up 16 wickets from 16 matches at an impressive economy of 8.02. His ability to execute Yorkers at will impressed everyone. A spectacular moment of his career was when he dismissed AB de Villiers with a scorching Yorker and derailed RCB’s innings in the Eliminator.

He was unable to play in the first half of the IPL 2021 owing to injury. In the second half of the competition, he was infected with Covid-19, which caused him to miss all of the matches in the UAE. Natarajan’s ability to bowl in the death overs makes him a very valuable asset. In the death, his perfect Yorkers and accurate slower ones are difficult to handle.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami’s IPL fortunes may just turn for the better when his name pops up during the IPL 2022 Auction. The pacer has been instrumental for India in Tests and in limited-overs formats, but his run in the marquee tournament never seemed to have had the success he’s had at international level.

The seamer has been on the expensive side with the ball and injuries have hampered his consistency as well. But he is still that wicket-taking bowler who can be counted on to deliver in crunch situations and is a handy bat down the order.
