Suresh Raina had retired from international cricket on the same day as Dhoni back in 2020 but had continued to play in the IPL. However, Raina, also known as ‘Mr IPL’, was not picked by any franchise during the two-day IPL 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru last month. 

CSK former player Suresh Raina is leading the parade of glittering stars and cricketing heroes in the commentary panel for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The 15th edition of the IPL features some of the 85 commentators across languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Bengali, and the newly added Gujarati feed.

Suresh Raina turned out in 205 games in the IPL, scoring 5,528 runs at an average of 32.52 at a strike-rate of 136.76 with one hundred and 39 fifties. Raina has now moved to a role off the field, making his debut as a cricket commentator for the IPL 2022.

Former India cricketer, Suresh Raina, part of the Hindi commentary panel, said, “After being part of the IPL since its inception in 2008, I am excited to associate with the league in a new avatar, as part of the IPL Hindi commentary panel for Star Sports.”  

In the 7th match of the IPL 2022, defending champions Chennai Super Kings will be taking on the Lucknow SuperGiants. Both teams are coming off losses in their opening games as CSK lost to KKR by KKR by 6 wickets and LSG lost to GT by 5 wickets. Both teams would be eager to open their accounts this season.
