Asia Cup 2023 schedule announced: 4 match in Pakistan, 9 in Sri Lanka

After India and Pakistan were locked in a war of words, the wait for the Asia Cup 2023 deadlock to be broken has been a long one. But ending all debate, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Thursday, confirmed that the tournament will be played between August 31st to September 17.

The ACC further added that the proposed hybrid model had been accepted and the multi-nation tournament will get underway with four matches being held in Pakistan. After hosts PCB conduct the first four games in Pakistan, the tournament will then shift to Sri Lanka for the last nine matches. India will play their matches in Sri Lanka.

The Asia Cup 2023 will be a six-team affair involving India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Nepal which marked its maiden qualification into the continental tournament this year. Sri Lanka is the defending Asia Cup champion after it beat Pakistan in the final held in the United Arab Emirates in 2022.

India is grouped alongside Pakistan and Nepal in the league stage while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan make up the second group. The two teams from both groups will move into the Super Four round-robin stage. The two teams from the round will then proceed to the final.
